You will travel from Sault Ste. Marie to Hawk Junction by train and then return by way of Goudreau, Wawa, Halfway Haven and Searchmont.

Cost: $615.00 per person, including taxes.
Includes train fare, three nights accommodation (double occupancy), meals and guide.

Mother's Day Fire Sand Loop Ride

We are headed off to the Fire Sand Loop it is slightly cloudy but we are dressed to get wet. A little water never hurt anyone.

Couldn't figure out why my hands were so hot! Forgot to turn off the hand warmers from my last ride.


Living here in Wawa we have the luxery of playing in our own back yards. Getting out doors and enjoying the fresh air is something we should really appreciate and many would trade us if they could. This looks like a easy way to burn calories but then again this is just the start of the ride.

How many men does it take to make a bridge around a beaver dam? Everybody. The first one gets the wildest, wettest ride and the last one gets a smoother dryer ride. EVERYONE HAD A BLAST. We had to get rid of some clothes we all worked up a sweat.

If your waving at me ... I'm busy trying to get through this mud.


Follow the leader but what's the hold up? We finished the ride with gas to spare and 85 kms. on our bikes. Pretty good for a last minute trip.


The end of the trail ... now where to? Half of the group headed home as they had to get back and cleaned up for supper reservations at the Polish Hall where they enjoyed a delicious supper as always put on by the Polish Alliance. The rest of us headed home where our spouses cooked us a delicious supper while we relaxed in our tubs. What a beautiful way to end a beautiful day.

Our previous plan was to ride to Dubreuilville but we cancelled it as some had dinner reservations they had made earlier. At the last minute a few of us talked a few more into a ride and then we were off. We do not plan another ride next week as we have a long ride to Chapleau on the 24th that is completely booked so it will be another good time.

Early June should be our next planned ride.

Jimmy Cash Here We Stop

May 8, 2008 weatherman said a few showers....but it looked not too bad right now. We packed up our rain gear and said a little rain won't hurt anybody so off we went. Headed down a packed trail covered in last years leaves.... this is great. A great day to ride with some friends.







Oh, trail is snow packed here, a little bit of a challenge to ride but no problem we can make it.

What's a little snow here and there?

This partridge sure did not like us on his trail. He was hunting for a date and we interupted his drumming. Glad I'm not a partridge ! That could be hard work!

Well here we are Jimmy Cash at last! Too much water even for us.

Load them up .... Home we go. We cleaned up some trail. Enjoyed a great morning. The rain never stop us but Old Jimmy stopped us in our tracks. We will try that again in another week.

Ready to Ride

That was a good warm up! EVERYBODY READY?

No "Chico " it is too deep ... even for you!"

I'm coming ... hold on Chico ..... Lionel .... put it in 4 wheel drive!



Sunday a group of eleven local A.T.V. enthusiasts met at the Bristol Motel where they left for a circle ride. This time of year offered snow, mud, water, brush to provide many riding experiences. The snow gives a whole new meaning to riding. It is like going skating with no skates.
As I watched our guide backup the lenghth of the trail I thought now this would be a good challenge. I had trouble riding front wards on the trail in the snow and here the guide road
back wards to meet us after checking out the trail ahead to see if it was passable.

No two rides are the same even when you go to the same destination there is always something new to experience.
Riding is fun because you go with a group of people with the same interests. They are there to experience the fun and to help when you need help. They are also there to remind you of the things you would like to forget. A camera never lies.
But....the thing that is the real thrill is that it is you and your bike. You are free in the outdoors. Learning to handle your bike in many different terrains makes you and only you responsible for how you handle your machine. It takes a lot of practise and skill to ride a bike around the variety of natural obsticles along a trail. You learn to trust your self and find that you build up your confidence each time you meet a challenge. We always like to blame the guide but it is the driver who is responsible for the risks he takes. When you are riding all your attention is on the trail and you leave all of your worries behind. Besides it is the guide's job to get you back home.

Our ride ended up at the Magpie Restaurant. Supper was served up quickly, good thing as we were all starved.

Next we headed to gas up our bikes and then home to wash them so we would be ready to ride again next Sunday.
Experience has taught us that if you clean your bike right after a ride it is much faster and easier than the next day. It is amazing how fast and hard that mud dries.

We rode a total of 86km leaving at 2: 00 pm and returning home at 7:oo pm The average gas we used for the day was between 12- 15 dollars. We got our moneys worth even with the high cost of fuel.

Exercise... yes we got exercise. Talk about a total body work out. We found parts of our body that we never knew we had. Pushing, pulling, walking, getting up and down, especially the first few rides of the season. Laughing is the best exercise.
Next week we had planned to ride to DUBREUILVILLE. t... but it is Mother's Day so we will reschedule for early June.
We will post time etc. A.S.A.P. as we check with our guide.
If you have nothing to do on Sunday come for a ride with us. You need a serviced bike, drivers licence, helmet, ownership & insurance. This is never a race, so if you want to ride fast, this is not the ride for you.

A.T.V. Annual Couple Ride to Chapleau, ON

Coffee Time along the trail to Chapleau, Ontario. The ride last year was on May 18, 2007 and it was enjoyed by everyone so we decided to repeat it again for the fourth year in a row. We overnight at the Bed @ Breakfast called Valentine Farms. This is a really neat place to see. It was once a chicken farm where chickens were raised for local stores. Ross Broomhead has done a great job at renovating this place and he also cooks us a great breakfast prior to our departure in the morning. Check it out.....you will be glad you did.




We travelled over a variety of trail and had fun with the challenges. This ride is a challenge but has a lot of road riding as well...it keeps the ladies happy.





You never know what you will find along the trail. Here we found a horn left by a moose that was in a fight with another moose. Must have been a girl thing. All I know is one of them has a huge headache. His horn was ripped right off his head well before it was time. Maybe we will find the other one on the way home. The marks on the ground where they had this fight sure showed it was a mean fight.


One thing about these rides, it really shows us how beautiful a world we do live in, here in the north. I would not trade it for anything.
It was a hot day but that spring water was c o l d!

I made it all the way ...good thing ....I had no intention off getting off this bike in this water.





The ride is May 24, 2008 this year and it will be a special ride for a special couple and this is all I can say.... now. So if you want to come for a good time with your friend or by yourself , give us a call as we still have a few spots available.

Gold Wing Annual Motorcycle Ride to Wawa

Gold Wing Motorcycle Chapter H, ONT 6WRR4 arrived at the Bristol Motel once again June 9/2007 where they spent the night following their ride from Sault Ste. Marie to Chapleau. In the morning they ride back to Sault Ste. Marie. This is an annual fund raiser and the group has new riders every year. Riders come from all over Canada and the U.S.A. to take part. Every year many return for the scenic ride and the comradery of other gold wings.


Willy & Bonnie owners of the motel serve them another annual BQQ buffet. Following this they have their meeting but from the sounds of the laughing I do not think they are working too hard.

The ride takes place June 7, 2008 this year and it looks like it will be another great ride. If you are part of this group their are a few rooms left so give us a call.
